My social media

Hi,

I'm L. Rose McKenzie.

I'm a widow, mother, grandmother and friend.

I was a Mushroom Harvester and a Buyer.

I've crocheted since I was a child. Learned to knit, Continental style about, 12years ago.

I have always cooked, canned ,

Hunted, fished and preserved foods. I was raised to do that. Gathering berries off the mountains and hunting along the way....

Raised farm animals and animals to butcher.

Gardening and landscaping too.

Property management on small farms.  Raising kids and having fun.

I taught them to use electronic devices and encouraged music and natural skills.

I encouraged family games and group activities.

Now days I am resting and recovering.

I'm learning to live an older adult lifestyle.  Salvaging social media accounts and keeping up with the grandkids.

I'm finding time for me now and enjoying it.

Recently started playing Billiards again, with a wonderful man. I'm recovering from Open Heart surgery (8 months ago). Thankful for everything that I've done and met.

Praying that I'll have many more years to come.

I'm on just about every form of social media.  I'm going to start a crochet & knitting group again.  Try to attend grandkids games and all family events I can.

I've had a book published. A Visual Guide For Harvesting Mushrooms, thru Author House.

I hope to do a book on Berries and Harvestable Plants here in Oregon.

I've also compiled a Bucket List and want to start marking things off.

I’m Dieing of Cancer

My name is David McKenzie. I need help. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer with multiple Tumors in my Brain. I am not using any drugs at all and yes, I’m in pain. I choose to let Mother Nature and God let me heal. My only mistake before going on a natural cleaning process was allowing them to do a biopsy on my Lung, which caused pain. I feel like I may be getting better. But I may be more comfortable with the thought of being comfortable. But what I’m trying to do is get help from all angles, even from God. In our society we have to have money. I haven’t been able to work for over 4 months. I’m asking anybody or everybody to help. For me and my wife. Mostly to keep my home. I don’t have enough money to pay off the trust deed, in full. I probably owe, with interest, about $70,000.. If I could get some financial help to save the property. My wife won’t be homeless when I die…. She’ll be able to keep the property and our home! If anybody cares? I hope someone besides God cares?! I have to say this, I asked God for a wife, children and grandchildren and to be wealthy. What I forgot to ask or specify was financially wealthy, not just wealthy in love. I’m wealthier than most with my wife of 37 years, 5 kids and 6 grandkids,  thanks to God, with love. Now I need to have my wife taken care of. Please, help me, help my wife!
Sincerely,
David S. McKenzie

Morel Hunting

Spring is here and so are the Morels.
Driving to our favorite areas to harvest them is
much easier than finding them however.
The On and Off Spring weather has
definately interrupted their growth.
While the guys looked about the area,
I took a break.
I was awakened by the guys showing off
Thier big find.
I would LOVE to Go on the road camping and helping
hubby to harvest & buy.
That's the plan I have.
Camp, do my crafts, pick mushrooms, live off the
land while David gets to have the time of his
life too!

Another blusterry night at the Mushroom Station.

This storm just can't pass us over. Only a few harvestors are out picking Yellow Feet, Hedge Hogs, Black Trumpets and now Nettle. Our son, Ben, brought in All the Nettle last night.
Prices are so low for everything this Winter. We have heard every rational reason, new world market contributers, not enough open public ground that is not being logged, the weather is too cold, etc.. Low prices, good crop, supply and demand at it's most basic.

A Beautiful Morel from last Spring. I can't wait for the weather to clear.
I have got Morel fever!

Youngest home on Spring Break, heads back today. Next semesters tuition will be due soon, ugh!
The shop is barely open, if it were not for my husbands persistance, things would be so different. I thank the Lord for his dedication.  With the decrease in people showing up we still had a great time at the station,
just us and hubby's cousin and our oldest son around the fire barrel. We have had BBQ's, alot this Winter, not much to do after the harvestors leave. Sharing coffee, stories and a warm chair.
This old shack will be falling down soon or torn down, we gotta move or get some sort of contract. That's why we are trying to regroup and get the place we really want. The Cinerella Story~ kinda, Rags to Riches is not our style, just the basic home & Gathering Hole.

Last nights "moment" at the Mushroom Station.

As a wife of 27 years, mother of 5 adult children, grand parents of two girls and the wife of a Mushroom Buyer, things can be very interesting. Last night my husband realized if we were going to move into the property, that we can't afford, we would need to raise $425,000.00.. Yes, that's alot of money, with an annual of $20-$50,000, which varies upon the harvest season & weather, this is not going to be easy! So, if we ask each person we meet for one dollar, we only need to ask 424,995 more people.
All while we put two kids thru college, pay our bills, help the other three kids and move out of our little shack, noooo problem!
